Crucify Your Mind - Rodriguez - chords and lyrics

I finally got round to adding another Rodriguez song on here from my songbook.
There are still more to come - so stay tuned...
You'll probably find better quality vids out there of Crucify Your Mind - but this one is good because you get to see him playing.
If you want to see all Rodriguez songs I have (and more in the future, as time permits) click on Sixto Rodriguez label at the bottom of the post - just above the comments.

"...Climb up on my music and my songs will set you free..." - Rodriguez

Crucify Your Mind  by  Rodriguez

Intro: A, E, F#m, E, A  (twice)
if you watch the video, you'll see how to play it like Rodriguez

A
Was it a huntsman or a player
       Amaj7
That made you pay the cost
             F#m
That now assumes relaxed positions
      E                       A
And prostitutes your loss?
 A
Were you tortured by your own thirst?
            Amaj7
In those pleasures that you seek
       F#m
That made you Tom the curious
       E                             A
That makes you James the weak?

A, Amaj7, E, F#m, E, A

            E                                 A
But you claim you got something going
E                          A
  Something you call unique
D                                       A
But I've seen your self-pity showing
E                                        A
As the tears rolled down your cheeks.

A, Amaj7, E, F#m, E, A

A
Soon you know I'll leave ya
          Amaj7
And I'll never look behind
               F#m
'Cos I was born for the purpose
        E                 A
That crucifies your mind.
 A
So con, convince your mirror.
               Amaj7
As you've always done before
            F#m
Giving substance to shadows
           E                   A
Giving substance ever more.

A, Amaj7, E, F#m, E, A

            E                                        A
And you assume you got something to offer
E                          A
  Secrets shiny and new
D                                 A
But how much of you is repetition
E                                             A
That you did not whisper to him too     Amaj7, F#m, E, A

There you have it - enjoy...
Of course it's always good to view other players and see how their cover versions compare.
This one below - by Martinwaymusic is worth a look at.
His version uses a Capo on the second and is in the chord of G

And a few more for comparison...

Set Fire To The Rain - Adele (chords and lyrics)

My wife likes this song. She asked if I could play it for her on guitar, so I did...
I'm still in two minds about using F or Dm for some of the parts, so put both options in for you.
Play them both (obviously not at the same time) and see which suits your voice.

 - Then there is the 'issue' of lyrics for the second line of the Bridge...
I wasn't sure whether she sings, "that heart you caught" or "and heard you calling" - but am sure you'll figure it out...

If you're playing along to the YouTube video above, the sound might be a bit distorted, so I'd suggest playing along with it from your cd or mp3

Set Fire To The Rain  by  Adele

CAPO on the 5th

Intro: Am  C  G  F

          Am       C
I let it fall, my heart
             G                       Dm/F
And as it fell, you rose to claim it
          Am                 C
It was dark and I was over
             G                               F
Until you kissed my lips and you saved me
     Am                  C
My hands, they're strong
          G                          Dm/F
but my knees were far too weak
     Am               C
To stand in your arms
            G                  F
without falling to your feet

                    F                        Am
But there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
          F                                      Am
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true
             F                                     G
And the games you play, you would always win, always win

             Am
But I set fire to the rain
                 G
Watched it pour as I touched your face
           Dm/F
Well, it burned while I cried
                                                   Am            G
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name

           Am       C
When I lay with you
           G               Dm/F
I could stay there, close my eyes
          Am     C
feel you here forever
            G                                         F
You and me together, nothing is (gets) better

                   F                        Am
But there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
          F                                     Am
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true
            F                                       G
And the games you'd play, you would always win, always win

             Am
But I set fire to the rain
                 G
Watched it pour as I touched your face
           Dm/F
Well, it burned while I cried
                                                   Am            G
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name

       Am
I set fire to the rain
                G
And I threw us into the flames
          Dm/F
Well I felt something die
                                                    Am              G
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time

              Am/F                   C
Sometimes I wake up by the door
                     G                                                                Dm/F
And heard you calling (that heart you caught), must be waiting for you
       Am/F                          C
Even now when we're already over
          G                                 F
I can't help myself from looking for ya

             Am
But I set fire to the rain
                 G
Watched it pour as I touched your face
           Dm/F
Well, it burned while I cried
                                                   Am            G
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name

       Am
I set fire to the rain
            G
And I threw us into the flames
          Dm/F
Well I felt something die
                                                    Am              G
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time

      Am       G           Dm        Am      G
Oh, oh, Oh, oh,Let it burn, oh, oh, oh oh
         Am     G           Dm     Am  G
Let it bu-uu-urn,Let it bu-u-u-u-u-urn

If you'd like to take some time to let me know how you got on playing this, I'd appreciate a comment.
